Why would this be done to the cluster??!?
So i took may cluster out just now because all the needles where off. I take the back plate off and find this. (Pics below) What is this for? It is a 93 sc300 5 speed. If you need more info let me know!! Thanks

Thats a resistor. Do you have an led backlight conversion on your cluster? Usually when you do any kind of led conversion on these cars you have to use a resistor to prevent the led's from flickering. It looks like its either that or if that is a automatic cluster on a 5sp then the resistor could be there to prevent an error code because you no longer have an automatic transmission for the cluster to read. Those would be my guesses.

That is some ancient history back in the day led conversion for led needles with a single led. It was done aftermarket for 2003-2004 while in infancy stages of getting a design that worked. After that the resistor was put in the needle instead from 2004 to 2010 to avoid any cluster modification. After that who knows, brandon bought LLS and it went to s&$@...... probably used chewing gum, who knows.
