There is a light bulb that is just hanging inside behind the trunk cover and between the gas tank. I don't see any mount where it is supposed to go. Anyone know why this bulb is here and where it is supposed to be located? I already have the trunk light so I'm not sure about this one.

hmm...it looks spliced in. Are you the original owner of the car? maybe the previous owner wanted to have 2 trunk lights. Also check if the trunk light you have now is LED. It could the previous owner did an LED conversion but went with an unnecessarily complicated method.

 

Probably a tail light bulb, wired out of the way from being crunched in the trunk, to keep the correct resistance for different year tails.
