Post replacing timing belt

I have a 92 SC400 with 160K and its time for the timing belt to be changed and planed on changing all the other parts that are part of this project is there any thing I should keep my eyes open for to make this go smoothly ? My next question is this ........ Will aftermarkent parts be worth the savings or are they mostly just a quick fix. I was considering getting the waterpump and any thing else I could from my local parts store I realize that there maybe some parts that are dealer item only. Aside from all that could that become a problem down the road or shoud I stick with getting all the parts from Lexus. If I were to pay someone to do the work what kinda cost should be the norm either from a Lexus dealer or someone else . I live in the Dallas area so if someone has had some good experience with a local shop that might be an option. Last question Iam replacing the cats and Lexus wants right at 1000.00 each. Could I go with aftermarket or gen. cats and save almost 900 on each cat . How is the aftermarket cats going to perform vs the Lexus one. Thanks

Timing belt, H2O pump, etc. I would definitely go with factory Toyota/Lexus. For the catalysts, I would go aftermarket, try to get a large-body unit like the Car-Sound, flows far far better than oe.

Post parts

You can get genuine Lexus parts online for a discount at either www.lexuspartsmall.com or www.spartanmotormall.com
My experience with both vendors has been good, and they always seem to undercut the prices quoted to me by our local dealers (Sewell & Park Place).
If you plan to do the work yourself, invest in a genuine serivce manual as well. It can save you problems in the future. Good luck with your project.
By the way, like LL said, skip the OE cats and go with aftermarket.
