I believe those are 19" Racing Hart C5's, I love those rims.

 

The wheels are Manaray Sport Hyper Revolution. 18s are the biggest they are made in.

By captive I think he means the base of the spring will no longer seat well on the strut perch? The ends of your springs flatten out to seat evenly on the strut perch. When you cut the ends off, you lose that quality of the spring as well as integrity/strength. Your shocks must be hating you right now, just don't hit any bumps in the road too hard or they'll explode on you. There are other reasons why it isn't a good idea to cut springs, including imperfect geometry. I don't know why you didn't just buy Eibach lowering springs? There's a brand new, unmounted set in the classifieds right now for $200. That's $150 off retail! Please, no more spring cutting...

 

Cutting springs does offers some practical alternatives to off-the-shelf performance spings. The first is that its much cheaper (ie. free, aside from your labor). You also get to cut the springs to any length you want, vs. aftermarkets which typically come in only one side. There is a trick cutting them properly (dont use a torch) and seating them on their perch. And if you get it right, it should have the same geometry as Eibachs; you should get an alignment using either setup as toe-in will change.

Its defintely not something for the first-timer on their Lexus (learn on someone's Mustang). Sure seems JOEYC2 knows how to do it right.
