It was about 8 months ago. I daily drive it now that my BMW is gone and have taken it to California, down hwy 1, a couple of different stats. It is a great road trip and daily car. But yeah I was lucky to find low miles always dealer maintained and garage kept. Great car.

Bought my 1992 SC400 new in June 1991 and took delivery on December 1991 after being on the wait list for 6 months. Had to give $1000 to get on the list and paid list price. Greatest car I ever owned at that time. Drove it until November 2013 when it was totaled by a broadside in an intersection while my daughter was driving it. Almost like a member of the family passing away. Yes, the 1992 SC400 was introduced in June of 1991.

I realize that this post hardly fits into the current thread, but valid in light of the original post.

My cousin sold it to me for $2500 in October of 2016....mint interior and great exterior (with the exception of quarter panel rust). Originally wanted a Supra, but with the asking price of some bad examples, I settled for it's luxurious sibling.

Actually kind of more amazing that you owned it for that long! I think most of us in this thread are here because we have fallen in love with our SC's and are hoping to drive them forever.

I had a 95 SC300 that i sold after i found a 99 SC400 earlier this year. Got the SC3 in 2011 and loved it but never felt like i had enough power. Was gonna swap a 1j or 2jzgte into it but was starting to become too expensive so i started looking for a late model SC400. Took me about 1.5 years but i finally came across a good one and bought it for 3200. I THOUGHT i got a good deal but now im seeing all these low mile unicorns that people say they bought and its got me questioning if i overpaid. But i love the car and so far no major issues to speak of so im happy with it. Would be curious to know how much blooz paid for his 2000 with 54k miles

I paid 8.5k. It was KBB at 12.5k so I felt pretty good about the deal. There were a couple other non-2000 SC400's floating around in my area for 4-5k with over 100k miles, but I like low mileage dealer maintained cars, so I had to go with the 2000 for a little more money.

Looks like a twin of our '92 but with a lot less miles. If the interior is in good shape (and it should be) then you can focus on the mechanical aspects.

If you are in NorCal, go to the NorCal thread to keep informed on upcoming meets... Would like to see another SSM at a meet....

For the wheels, it will be well worth the time investment reading the "Wheel Fitment" sticky to learn all of the nuances and choices to make for wheels (it is a lot more involved than I had ever imagined).

Here is an example of what you can do:

Default Walked into a great deal.

I was visiting a clients' house about 8 years ago, and was chillin'. He was mentioning that his wife bought a new car, and was looking at the Audi. He could probably tell that I was not particularly thrilled about German Stuff, so he says, "let's go look at your next car". We walked down to the garage, and there was a '92 SC400. I had seen a few some time ago, as I guy I worked with had one, and he changed cars like I changed shirts. So off we go on a drive. I WANTED the damn thing. He quotes me a price that I couldn't believe, I pull out some cash as a deposit, as there were to other buyers in the mix. I ran to the bank to get some Benjamins and returned within the hour.
