Default Fender rolling

I plan on rolling the fenders. When cutting the liner, do I need to remove it or can a box cutter do the trick? Can I roll the fender and leave the liner?

I read the other threads on this, and they seemed to be all or nothing. Just asking since it isn't discussed.

The liner is just held on by like 8 little phillips screws. I can't imagine why you would leave it on. A) It takes up some of the space you're trying to gain with rolling, b) it would complicate the process if left on, and c) it's silly easy to remove.

It would keep some of the dirt and stuff off the car is all. I read about people trimming the top instead. I am gonna roll them tomorrow so I will see what the deal is. Right now it looks like a rub on the platic lip which I may just be able to cut.

I may just listen to the advise and remove it and see how it goes.. can always put it back on.

The shopped that did my fenders cut away the liner about an inch, so it wouldn't hang down and rub my tires. They cut the area where you roll the fender. It allowed for me to keep the fender liners for a while, but I hit a hard bump and ripped out the fender liners while driving.

Wait, I was thinking fender lip not liner. People cut the liners for rolling? I guess for extreme lowering that makes sense.

t2d2 are you saying the liner can stay usually? I am not that low... I think I am just rubbing the lip so I will just remove the plastic lip and roll the fender and should be good.

Yeah, I wouldn't touch the liners unless you think you'll be going pretty low. I'm at stock height, fwiw, but all my rubbing with wider rims/tires was on the lips.

The rear is my issue. I will probably roll the front while I am at it though. The rear is a 265 tire so it rubs just slightly on bumps, all on the lip. i am obviously lower than stock, but not tucking 2-3" lol If I get enough clearance i'd like to lower it just a hair more. Fronts seem good as is.

You can easily roll fenders without removing liner....

Key to rolling the fenders is to go slow. Use a heat gun ensure paint doesn't crack. Good lock!

Rolled rear fenders and the fronts got pulled just a hair since the rub was minor. No rubbing any more and could drop the rear a hair if I wanted.

Thanks for the tips folks.

Nice! Looks good on a black car, too. I like them.

Question folks.. At the top of the wheel well in the front there is a metal "tab" or ridge I see hanging down. Could I be hitting that on bumps? Some dips in the road give me a rubbing sounds, but there is no tire left on the fender. I hammered that tab flat to keep it from blowing out the tire to easily. I see no marks on my tire or the tab to be evident. I am just wondering if anyone know what I am talking about and if they had issues with it. Something tells me if people can rub through the harness then maybe this is another spot people look out for that I am unaware of. The previous owner relocated the harness and was lowered, but I don't think he rubbed through the liner to the metal spot. (I wouldn't know though). Thoughts?
