Default Question about 94 sc400

Hi everybody! I am crazy about SC just like u guys, however I don't know anything about repairing cars. Recently I found a 94 sc 400 for sale with 180000 miles, says did all maintenance work at Lexus dealer with car fax. With such high mileage, what usually goes wrong first? What type of maintenance cost am I looking at? Really grateful if you guys can share your thoughts and give me some light! Thank u thank u thank u!

Toyota/Lexus are great products. I bought my son a 1999 ES300 with 200K on it. It needed some love to get it road worthy, but now it's running great. Has the original engine and transmission. Purrs like a kitten and runs smooth. I bought my daughter a 1995 SC400 with over 200K on it. It needed a starter and some TLC when we first got it (only paid $900). It's a BEAST. Runs great. Can't say enough good things about these cars. If you have to pay Lexus for your repairs, you may have a different opinion. If you can do the work yourself, they're very affordable and reliable cars. I've seen many clean Lexus in my local salvage yards. My bet is their owners didn't want to deal with the repair bills. My son's ES would have been scrapped if I couldn't do the work it needed.

One common SC problem is the instrument clusters wear out and need rebuilding. The lights wear out and the motors that run the tac and odometer get lazy ...and eventually fail. There's a guy that rebuilds the clusters. Search this site. Another common problem is the LCD screen on the climate control goes out. I replaced my daugher's LCD screen and it wasn't as tough as I expected (if you can solder). I purchased the screen from Best Pixel Repair. www.bestpixelrepair.com
