Front belt buckle damage
When I bought my SC300, the driver door panel was scarred from the seat belt buckle jamming into the door pocket when the door was closed. Sometimes the buckle braces itself against the outer side of the seat and jams the elongated end into the door when you close it, leaving a welt or worse, a cut.
I've been searching for replacement door pockets but before I get to replacing them I want to fix the problem with the seat belt mechanism that is causing the damage. It looks like the cause is the belt not reeling up enough when you undo your seatbelt to get out of the car. If you fail to see where the buckle is, you can damage the door when you close it.
Has anyone managed to fix this problem? Can the retractor mechanism be adjusted or do you need to replace instead of repair?
