Default Body Kit Question

okay CL,

now from your experience have you ever purchased a body kit from anywhere and it did NOT need to be prepped for paint?

meaning you purchased the body kit BRAND NEW & once it arrived all you needed to do was shoot paint & install.

by prep do you guys mean the install?

im sorry if i wasn't clear enough, i ment the paint process did anyone have to do primer & sanding of the bumper once received brand new?

because im having trouble with a body kit company saying that ALL body kits no matter what need to be hit with primer & sanded when purchased brand new.

just trying to make sure the information is correct with actual personal experiences.

please discuss for me thank you!

Shine sides and rear was all good for me. I also got an AC rep bumper that was already fitted and painted.
My Origin rep from NRG Motorsports was unusable in every way

You always do some sort of prep.

I have an extreme dimensions Vertex Rep and every piece had to be heavily modified to fit and it still fits very poorly.

To better answer your question, if you're wanting decent paint results some light sanding and priming will be needed.
Usually when a kit comes it usually still has some mold release on the outside of the pieces.
If you try and paint right over it with no prep work then eventually the paint will crack and chip off.
For best results do some light sanding and a solid coat of primer.
