Have a 92 SC300 w 112,000 miles. New balanced, aligned tires, yet still pulls a little to the right if you let go of steering wheel. Guy at tire place says common for Lexus/Toyota cars. After second alignment, still pulls a little but not bad? ANy suggestions? Thanks.

 

....Is that because he didn't want to put it back up on the rack? I've never had any problems with pulling to the right or left on any of our Lexus vehicles. I've never heard that Lexus vehicles are difficult to align at all. They give you some very nice front suspension adjustment dials on the control arms for simplicity. My alignment tech referred to how easy it was to align with the cam adjusters on the control arms.

 

The guy originally said the alignment was way off and gave me the computer printout before and after the adjustment to the alignment. According to the computer it was within the limits, but still does pull slightly to the right. Its not bad, but it is there. I also have a little vibration in the steering wheel around 80 or so. I love the car, just wondeing if there is something going on here I can check. I hate asking a mechanic, without any knowledge. Im sure a blind question could lead to twice the price of what may have really needed fixed. I appreciate any responses.

 

I had/have the same problem on my 92 sc300. when i took it back for 2nd lift he had to cross rotate the tire because air pockets formed in the metal binding in the tires on one side of the tires. This caused it to turn to the right. Once he cross rotated them he said not to rotate for 6000 miles and they will fix themselves. Still pulls a little but not as bad.

 

I thought it could be the tires needing cross rotated too, but he said they were new, so they wouldn't have any wear. If your car pulls in one direction due to poor alignment, correcting the alignment without changing tires may not cure the problem, cause the tire has been damaged by the problem and won't roll true anymore.

 

I have a 92 SC300 with almost 84k miles on it and the tires are semi-new (like 7kish on them) and I don't have this problem, Also just a note, not sure if it matters or not, but when you look in the Lexus manual it says to rotate them from front to back, does not mention cross-rotating, Like I said I was just pointing this out I don’t see how they would hurt them but I am just saying what the manual is stating...............

Does anyone believe that this problem and the one about the shaking could be due to sway bar bushes? If so, any idea on what a fair price is in having these replaced. I have been told tp have the front and rear replaced at the same time. Thanks again. This forum is great!!

 

Soemone indicated that this slight pulling can be considered a "safety feature". The reasoning is, if your driving on a two way road, and you are falling asleep at the wheel, the car will pull to the right, instead of going into oncoming traffic.

 

Car should not pull left or right. He is pulling your leg
