Default Battery died, changed it - starter INOP

The car sat for 2 months. Tried to start it and it was dead. Decided to replace the battery rather than charge it since it had a few miles on it. Tried to start the car and nothing...driver door lock works, trunk unlocks, passenger door doesn't unlock outside. Key unlock door button does not work. Door dings when open, horn honks. Turn the key on and nothing except a red car showing door open on dash. Checked fuses all good, tried locking and unlocking the door multiple times no difference. It seems like the anti-theft starter cut off was triggered and I can't disarm it.
Need help.....

Is the red alarm light blinking all the time even with the doors unlocked? I'm assuming your car is equipped with the theft deterrent system, if not then your system is probably not armed. Do you have a keyless door fob? Perhaps you need to change the battery in it or sensor pick up for it is't working. My 96 will start with the doors open as long as the theft deterrent system isn't armed, but of course if it is armed & doors are opened the alarm goes off. Check all your grounds to the starting system & starter contacts for corrosion.

Did it crank up every time, before you allowed it to sit for two months?

Check the grounds?

Do you have any wild animals that has built a nest or chewed through the wires somewhere? I know it sounds funny, but rule this out. Squirrels love to chew.

Volts on battery? While turning over?

Lastly, jump start/bypass the starter relay and see if it cranks. Post your findings. I know it is frustrating.... Hang in there...

If you dont even hear a click from the solenoid, I would check the PRND switch on the transmission. Some times a simple wiggle/push on the shift lever to P position can fix your problem.

This is the safety interlock that wants to make sure you are in Park (or N) when you engage the starter.
