Default Spacers inquiry

So it seems no wheels on planet earth clear the Supra TT brakes unless they're Supra TT wheels or some 3k dollar set of rims. I'm obviously going to just get whatever rims I want and HAVE to run spacers.

What are spacers, how do they work, and what kind do I want for my application? Do I just buy a bunch and see which will do the trick and trash or sell the rest? I've been reading for most wheels that 3-5mm is enough yet does not require extended studs which is less work for me. I know this is a lot to ask but I've got 3 midterms this week, my current rims have already rubbed through all the paint on my new TT calipers, and I'd just like to get new rims on the car and be done with it. I'm looking to get

F/R 18's by 8.5/9.5 or 9-9.5/10.5 with an offset of anything at or below +30 and +35 being the highest I'd want to go. Thanks for input.

Best,
Ashtray

I appreciate the response but again I'm not getting anything concrete..just a "most" and a "I wouldn't run spacers". Thanks though.

edit: With the time crunch I'm on and the way my rims keep sanding away my caliper paint...I just want someone to say "These (enter name) will clear TT brakes in the this size(enter specs)" It's so difficult to find that and then the internet is literally just a battle ground over "Spacers are horrible death trap" to "stop worrying they're just spacers"

double: Some people will die before they advise someone to run spacers and others say they're been "running with them for 3 years now no problems"...it's like WTF.

triple edit: i will say though those work emotions are nice. Maybe the extra cash is worth it to not need to run spacers. I also just youtubed spacers and I dont see where the real risk comes into play.

quadruple edit: The Work Emotion 11R are beautiful in bronze finish. Will F 18x8.5 +30 and R 18x9.5 +30 clear my set up of TT brakes up front and stock in rear?

Can anyone confirm these will clear TT brakes without spacers?

Also...does the concavity of the wheel mean anything? I've recently read that having lip will disrupt brake clearance more and these have a very small lip. On their website, the 18x9.5 come in a "super concave" configuration and the 18x8.5 come in a semi-concave configuration. The design of the wheel does not seem to indicate that the spokes would "lean" in to the center of the wheel but rather pop themselves away from the hub/caliper.

Another thing...due to their premium price, I will only be purchasing the front 2 for now : ) haters gonna hate.

ANYWAY.....as soon as I see/read confirmation that these wheels clear Supra TT brakes, I'm pulling the trigger on the bronze finish F 18x8.5 +30 5x114.3

edit: One last thing In the Work Emotion 11R description, it says that some specs are BBK friendly...how would I know which specs these might be? None are labeled or anything like that...

Re: unknown spacer thickness requirements.

I would grab a handful of fender washers, or a PVC pipe, and stack/cut temporary spacers until you get the caliper clearance and fender flushness you want, then measure that to see what size permanent spacer you need.

Nice advice @t2d2.

I've decided I will not run spacers on the car. Even my dad objected to it. He said to spend my money wisely and just get good legit rim that work out of the box and that this summer he'd try to help me fund the 2 rear rims. He also liked the Work Emotion more than the varrstoens.

So...anyone know for CERTAIN that this WORK Emotions 11R F 18x8.5 +30 will clear a Supra TT bbk?

i got my wheels from craigslist for 100 bucks, they clear TT fronts. it's not about the width or offset, it's simply the styling of the wheel. i've tried larger wheels with lower offset that didn't fit. the spokes just have to stick out a bit and not be flat.

Email Work Wheels. Ask which specs are high disk to clear big brakes and if they know if it can clear supra TT calipers.

If your wheels are already installed on the car and you can safely drive it while its shaving the paint off it sounds like you only need a small 3 or 5mm spacer.
