Default Original fuel filter seems slightly mangled

My fuel filter looks to be slightly angled at the inlet, and I believe this was original.

Was your fuel filter and lines misaligned..? do you think this would cause a problem installing a new one?

I think this was one of those early filters that doesn't have thread all the way down and they have to put so much torque maybe it tweaked things a little.

If there is a dealer near you, I'd call them. They over tightened the filters at the factory in many cases and I have heard of dealers doing he swap for free. It was too late for me. Mine broke during the swap and I had to run a new line front to back.

I hadn't heard about them being overtightened at the factory, but that would certainly help explain my miserable experience.

never change that filter yourself , i had some luck and didn't broke the lines but a burned skin from the liters of fuel
its a hell of a job

I did an extensive search and I saw pics of this tubing people had put so much torque the tube was torqued and it put a dent into the tubing.

also read problems like one side went in, the other side couldn't.. this confirms my thoughts of it being misaligned.

another shown pic shows inside the filter wasn't threaded all the way to the flare seal, so the first few threads on the nut were mangled inside, this explain why people loosen it, turn it a few turns and then it gets difficult to turn as the mangled threads are dragged back out over the good threads.

On my previous car I put a metric to AN6 adapter (using a Viton o ring seal).. then put aeromotive filter, it was beautiful. But the goal there was to convert to AN lines

I think that could be done too if there was a way to adapt the AN6 back to metric.

After 45 minutes of babying the connectors my mechanic gave up and cut the lines and added rubber lines on each side and installed a universal filter. Works great and will be easy for me to change in the future. He double flared the stainless steel lines so it should not be any problem.
