New daily - 97' SC400
I picked up a 1997 Classic Green Pearl SC400 from Tom ( tkafam1 ), he's been a long time member since February of 2005 here on the forums. I stumbled on his thread here and as of post #12 I was hooked - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...s-a-goner.html
I got off work Monday at 4pm and drove up to St. Louis from Springfield and was greeted by a great guy, very kind and knowledgeable. I could tell he really loved this car and took great care of it. The test drive confirmed the issues he had mentioned in the thread of the wheel bearing, CEL, "shimmy" etc etc.. Even with those things aside, this car was otherwise smooth as butter, practically cherry, I can't believe the deal I got and am still hoping I'm not dreaming...
Tom's a great guy and was very punctual and professional and made for a great car buying experience. He welcomed my girlfriend and I into his home, met his wife Kathleen, spoke about the SC's history, reviewed the work receipts, swapped plates and was on my way. Thanks again Tom, this car is in great hands, it'll be revived and will stay on the road for as long as I have a desire to drive in style.
Pictures or it didn't happen? I agree....
My first fill up that night, 93 of course..

Fresh car wash the next morning:

Ha yes that, the business card of the original Lexus salesman and mechanic, the window sticker, recent work receipts and even the Lexus car phone in the center console. I'll snap some photos of those things tonight.
Ha ha it's funny you say that, my friends kept telling me dude, its gone, don't even bother... I'm glad I did.

I appreciate it. If you're ever in Springfield and wanna cruise or need a hand on the car LMK, I do everything myself. Also, I'll PM you the details as time comes closer but my friends and I are putting together a 40-50 mile cruise, anyone's welcome but there should be some very cool stuff there.
He was more so just wanting the driveway space, he had just bought a new car and it was just a case of "out with the old, in with the new"...
Read the other thread. He was fed up with trying to fix the problem and offered to "sell" it to a fellow CL'er for what he would get as a tax write-off for donating it. Pretty much gave it away.
Yeah, I've got some things to fix until it's really road worthy but I'll have those things done this weekend or the next so not a big deal for me.. Right thread at the right time for me.
I'm still in shock.. The things that need attention are NOTHING compared to what's in perfect condition, even the CD changer works lol. The seller and I both know it's a great deal. If someone less caring about it bought it, they could get $1300 out of just the 97 aesthetics alone.. This baby is mine though, I'm keeping it forever lol
