I have a very simple but not answered question, my sc3 is not ready to go boost yet, im spending my time cleaning up the engine bay but the ugly over the engine intake manifold is a eye sore. Do I have to go boost to use a ffim? I read through 3 pages of ffim threads and no answer.
Also if anybody knows any companies with a not so expensive upper anti sway bar that would help

So this is a tricky one...no, technically you dont need to be boosted, but you may suffer some performance detriment from the larger plenum and shorter runners. From the factory the longer runners are made to help the motor create torque. In a boosted application, you want the plenum large and the runners short to dump the air in.
I dont have any experience on an NA sc3 with a ffim, but the other cars I have done it with in prep for going boosted, lost low and midrange torque when in transition.

1) your slow car would only be slower by adding a ffim.
like the dude before me said, the long runners help develop torque for the low and mid range.
2)go with supra sway bars. one of the best upgrades imo

It really isn't a big deal having the stock GE crossover manifold on- board if your going boost. People make 500hp on these OEM manifolds at ease. Sure, if you run a FFIM it would idle better, have plenty options for vaccum tapping, smooth throttle/power band throughout the revs, but its a part that i would install on a turbo car. Not really something i would install on an N/A. With the investment you need to make to get the FFIM made i would invest in turbo parts. Or you can find an upper TT GTE intake manifold.

Personally, I would rather have the ffim installed before going na-t. The lost of torque wouldn't bother me because at the end it'll be all smiles. I wasn't able to find a DIY for an NA but all i know is i gotta get a TB, throttle cable, reroute vacuum hoses and relocate power steering res. Correct me if i'm wrong. I know there's a lot more to it so i guess i gotta keep researching. Right now I'm in the process of getting what I need for the tt ecu mod on my 95 5 speed.
