All manual gear boxes can be changed to taller 5th gear swaps or change the rear end to lower gear ratios.
I may do a tranny swap or seek a 3.42-3.54 lsd gear pinion to achieve this. I found that TK600 or TR6060 will net you about 1700rpms at 60 mph and 200 rpms at 80 rpms.
I have noticed that my parents v6 Honda, and my girls V6 Camry spins at 1700 orso at 60 mph. I think fuel efficiency is a misnomer, because the lower rpms at a given speed, and lower weight is why gas consumption is low in many newer cars. I bet you never checked to see what gear ratios rpms spin at when driving. I think that I read that the rear of a vette was 2.66!
