Saving fuel ruining my engine?
Lately I've been driving much more conservatively in my SC 400 in an effort to combat the escalating price of gasoline. Generally, I've been puttering about trying to keep my tachometer reading at ~1200rpm or even less. Over time, I've noticed a small but substantial is my mpg which I was very happy about.
But I wonder, are there any negative effects of regularly keeping the engine running at low rpm?

i do the same as you, except i try not to pass 2,000.
randomly i will go past 2k and sometimes even into 3-4k but not often enough for me to lose gas. for somereason between miles 1- 50 if i gas it to 3-4k, i dont lose as much gas as if i gas it between miles 50-2xx

try hypermiling http://ecomodder.com/forum/EM-hyperm...ecodriving.php
, back when gas was over 4$ i would do it just so i can drive to school and back. big difference! i know its hard not to drive with a lead foot, especially with an aftermarket exhaust but our cars are so aero-dynamic it makes it easy to coast in nuetal or with the key on but engine off. also try replacing oxygen sensors, plugs/wires/dist. cap n rotor. also BFI FTW
