Exclamation Help! Transponder: Remote Key = lost, spare key doesn't work

My remote key is lost, who knows where...

My master key (my only startable spare) doesn't make the car start, the engine just turns over.

My wallet key doesn't have the magical arrow that newer cars have.

This is a 1998 SC400...

For those of you that don't know (which should be everyone browsing this forum from the reponse I received). Lexus will supply a new ECU for you, you just need to buy a key. This is offered as a one-time convenience for owners. You also may or may not have to pay for installation (one hour labor). You do have to have your car towed to the dealership (or at least mine forced me to).

FYI, I used 'replacement key' in the search window to find that thread.

Search smearch...

I didn't find anything when I searched, maybe I didn't have the date set far enough back or maybe I was only including SC/general forums... oh well. Anywho I should get my car back tomorrow.

how's my case? I have a master key, and other keys but my keyless entry is not working. From what I know, I need to change the ROM in the ECU & transmitter (key).

so you are saying that if I purchase the transmitter (key) from the dealer, I can also get ECU??

Taka,

It maybe more cost effective for you to go with a security alarm.
