So i hit pothole yesterday and car just shut down all lights went blank. I checked fuses and relays all fine and wire hareness not touched at all. I put new battery nothing not even door courtesy lights. I check grounds saw nothing loose im at complete loss
I would highly recommend a new ignition switch. it is probably the one from the factory so the contacts are probably worn out and that pot hole might have misaligned them.
you should feel some resistance when turning the key over.
well its clear that your car is not recognizing the on position for the key.
that leads me to believe that it is the ignition switch since that controls if the car is on or not.
if there is no contact between the contacts, (which it sounds like) your car will not get the power signal and your car wont have power.
Gonna try replacing igniton switch. But i thought lights in door would still come on they usaully do without key and brakes should still light when pressed without key. Gonna try switch either appreciate the help thanks a million.
It all points to one of the main fuses under the hood. I would pull each one out, clean the contacts, and reinstall. I would go as far as checking each one with a multi meter to make sure that the bump didn't dislodge something in the fuse itself.
I did that ozzy i thought same thing. i also checked alternater fuse and replaced am1 fusible like cause little corrosin on it .When i tried new battery i got little spark sound so i know there is juice coming from some where just weak.
If all the fuses are good, and you are SURE the battery you bought was fully charged before you bought it, then all that's left is the grounds. You may have to disconnect, clean, then reseat all of them.
I have a 400 so not really qualified to offer ideas but don't the 300 s suffer from the wiring harness rubbing on the left wheel when lowered? Think the harness took a bad hit when you hit the bump?
First thing i checked was harness. I thinks checking each ground is last option i even checked ecu
i didnt have one blown capacitor actually looked fairly new thanks for responses.Im pulling my hair out trying to figure it out
A bad ECU wouldn't explain why not even the lights come on when you open the door. If a wiring harness is frayed, I doubt that one wire being cut on the bump would cause the loss of ALL the power, just certain systems.
Is your SC bagged/lowered? If it is you might have clipped the main harness underneath the fender well. This has happened before so it has to be something liable to get hurt from a stiff jerk.
