Default 92 sc400 sub replacement

I didnt know where to put this so move it if need be.

So i recently purchased my sc4 and the radio didnt work and all of the speakers were pretty tore up. i installed a aftermarket head unit and four 4in planet audio speakers. when it came to the sub I went to a local audio dealer and bought a 800w JL. To my dismay it did not fit as it was to tall. i hadnt even noticed the shape of the rear deck at that point. i returned the sub and got back on planet audio's site and ordered a flat 800w sub. clearance was great but thats when I noticed that no matter what sub I got none would fit. So i took a look at the factory sub and realized what i would have to do.

I removed the guts from the oem sub and cut off the four pieces that hold the magnet to the top ring(the part I needed). I tried to fit the sub in but there was a small lip inside. After i milled out the lip the new sub fit in perfectly. i drilled some holes to mount the sub onto the ring and everything fit great.

did you need to mill the 1/4in ring out in the center? my sub wouldnt fit without doing it but i guess all subs are shaped differently.

my first sub fits without problems, but the 2nd was a little bit to big, only 1-2mm. i used washers under the chassis to can fit them, with the foam tape is no gap for the air.
