Default 300 or 400

I have a bit of a dilemma I'm stuck between either getting an SC300 or SC400 both cars are '93's and awesome yes I know but honestly which one is the question. Any suggestions? What better place to ask then CL?

Both are OBD1 so thats a good thing also non interference.
All depends what your going to do with it and what your goals are.

^^ This. And there are many shades in between. If you plan to modify the car, especially if it's an SC300, yes, OBD1 is a help.

I have a '93 SC-400. I do not plan to race it or to modify it, other than simple things like the BFI, etc. Since my goal is to have a car that is awesome, but not awesome fast, the 400 works very well for me.

When I hit the lotto I might drop a corvette motor in my 400. I wonder if that's ever been done....
I'm sure an LS swap has been done, as there is a TON of room under the hood.

IMO if you just want to cruise and leave it stock, go with the V8 SC400. If you want to row your own gears or plan to put a turbo on and make some serious power, get the SC300 with the 2JZ.

Its all in what you want to do with the car, both are great. BTW, if you are thinking about fuel economy, just go get the SC400 with the v8. I have an SC300, 2JZ, 5 speed, stock as a rock, in town it gets 18mpg, on the highway 21(I drive at 80-85mph though), so you might as well get the V8 if you want an automatic. Fuel mileage is similar, both take premium gas, the V8 has about 30 more horsepower.

Yes the LS has been done several times on here. Check out the build section. Anyway, Either car and you will not go wrong. The V8 is a happy, can't kill type motor and the SC300 is for boost, even with the stock bottom end. Although the manual V8 makes it even beter to drive once the conversion is complete.

like everyone has already said. it depends on what you want to get from this car. if your looking to eventually turbo the car then i would get an sc300. if you want something that sounds like a beast, but dont plan on modifying it. then i would go with the sc400, preferably a 97+. if i could buy my car all over again then i would have bought the 300 jus cause now i want BOOST.

Go with the cleanest/we'll maintenance Sc, if at all possible between the two you are currently eyeing. Good luck!
