Default Lowering My SC

Hey i just purchased Eibach Pro Kit Racing Springs and I was going to get them installed and my mechanic said that i should get adjustable Shocks also when i get the springs installed. Is this true?? I was wondering what else i will need to get my car lowered or can I just get the springs installed now. I would appreciate any input.

Thank you,
Lawrence

You don't need anything extra. As long as the Eibach Pro kit is for your car. You do not need anything else. Adjustable shocks are good idea to futher improve the handling, but it's not needed.

I was told that I will feel every bump if i dont replace the Shocks also. He said that the car is going to ride harder no matter what and i am aware of that but i dont want it to ride like sh*t ! If the shocks will make a big difference in the cars ride i will def get them but if its not that big of a deal i wont bother wit it. He told me that my Shocks will eventually go so if i change them now i will save money buy gettin them put in later for the installation.

The car will definately ride a bit 'harder' but it really isn't that bad with the ProKit. Did you change the rims on your car?

sexxylex11,

You cannot get adjustable shocks for the SC with SC Pro Kit springs. They don't make them. The Tokico Blue struts are non-adj and will control the wheels better.

You do not want to pay for the spring install if you want to pull them out again to change the struts. They are all one assembly. So you would be paying double.

You could utilize the search feature and find input about every possible permutation of strut/spring setup on an SC. That may answer a ton of your questions.

My opinion, with those 18" wheels, a prokit, and your worn struts, you will be wishing you invested in struts. You will need to get a proper alignment anytime you change the geometry of the stock suspension. That means, if they pull off any bolt that attaches to the suspension components...you need an alignment. A setting of only a few degrees of camber will tear your tires up pretty quick.

The ride is noticeably stiffer, not harder (as in rougher). You feel a difference when you hit bumps or dips, the springs recoil much quicker than stock. You're also able to corner a lot harder. I'm not bothered by the ride at all and my springs are compressed more than yours (1.5 inch). It's a definite MUST HAVE mod for the SC because the stock height is just way too geriatric to be taken seriously. You have a '97 model, so depending on the miles, you might be okay using your stock shocks. I swapped my shocks out at around 65K miles and they still looked fresh with a decent amount of mileage left in them. And based on Hermosa's install, I think the KYB adjustables are rougher than the KYB OEMs.

you should of saved and bought coilovers...

My TEIN CS's feel exactly like stock and the car is dropped about 1.5-2" It looks awesome, but then again coilovers are expensive as hell.. I think you should buy the struts before you install the springs because it will save you money on install. And then almost your whole suspension is new.

is the prokit that lowers the car 1.3 inches in front, ,and one inch in teh back?

where did you buy them, and how much did you pay, if you dont mind me asking...cuz i am thinking of lowering mine.

also for this setup..you have to buy the two rear supra struts right?
