There's a constant over heating of the pedal area especially when I pass over 50mph. It sometimes becomes unbearable to drive of how hot it is. What causes this problem ?

 

You know what ive had the same problem with both my old sc and my new one, the car itself would not overheat, but for some reason my leg area on the driver side would heat up noticeably, nothing crazy but enough to say "wtf why are my legs hot" normally after extensive driving, wouldnt do it in short comutes.

 

I've heard this can happen when the cats start to go out on the exhaust.
When the cars on look underneath it and see if any part of the exhaust starts to glow. If so don't drive it again until you get new cats as it can cause your car to catch on fire.

I don't know how to replace it because I havent looked it up yet, but I know it can happen and has similar symptoms so it's definitely something to at least check out.

[Edit] Actually now that I think more on it, it wasn't the cat that was going out, I think it had something to do with ignition or something like that, and the fuel wasn't being completely burnd so it would combust when it hit the cats... I can't remember the exact thread it was in, but if I find it I'll link it here[/edit]

 

I thought it was just heat coming from the engine.

 

This happened on my 92 SC, but I have the cats removed on that one. That car also overheats though...think it needs a water pump.

On my 96 SC it does get slightly warm after a long drive, but that's also with the air on Hot, if I lower the air temp to Cold(Even though the air is OFF) then I don't get any heat... However I will say after long drives my 96 gets hot near the transmission area. Near the automatic shifter I can feel the heat. It worries me...
