Default power stearing question

i've jus replace my power stearing pump. I purchased it from advance autoparts so i'm assuming its an aftermarket part.. my quesion is this... "is there a breaking in period b/c it's brand new?" I had the part installed and the wheel is a lot stiffer and harder to turn than normal? is this b/c it's not a OEM part?

When I replaced mine, it was not a "lot stiffer and harder" than before- it felt fine from Mile 1. Not sure of the brand, though, but it was not OEM.

Was everything put back together correctly? There are other posts mentioning a clogged fluid feeder hose from the reservoir. Maybe that's it.

I'd suggest checking the electrical connections to the PS unit. The Lexus PS is speed-sensitive variable assist. Without speed input to the unit, you'll definitely have minimum assist, and that "stiff" feeling

Something definitely wrong. When mine went out I had my dealership rebuild it with a kit. Smooth sailing ever since.
