Default CCW vs HRE?

Whats up folks?

As mentioned in the introductory thread, I picked up a 96 SC300 from a co-worker two weeks ago as a start of a long term project. So far I've just installed an AVIC x950bh last week but its currently in dire need of stance correction as its sitting on mismatch IS300 wheels up front and 2nd gen chrome GS wheels out back on bald tires.

My main purpose of buying this car was to swap an LS3 & 6 speed combo into it, but since it only has 106k miles and it runs just fine I can delay the swap a bit and improve the looks first. I'll be ordering coil-overs, sourcing parts for the LS400 4pot caliper swap, and ordering wheels in the next couple of weeks once I sell my old daily beater. I've always wanted a nice set of iForged, CCW, HRE, or Fikse wheels on a car but never had a chance to afford them. When it comes to this SC I think I've narrowed it down to two options: CCW classics or a set of HRE Flowforms. Technically, I guess you can say I can't afford real deal HRE wheels since the Flowforms are cast single piece wheels but at the cost of CCW's. I like the look, but I feel like I won't be getting the real deal going with a "cast HRE" wheel, i.e halfway "premium" wheels.

Aside from the type of wheel, what do you guys feel on the design? Do you prefer the lip of the CCW or the concavity of the HRE? Open to any input/suggestions between the two. I have a few weeks to decide.

TIA.

A nice staggered set of concave wheels look best on SC's IMO, but you'll have a lot of people who will vote for the CCW's because they're a classic look. In the end its up to you OP.
You could always turn this thread into a poll and see what the majority says.

Can't go wrong with either. HRE and CCW both make super hawt wheels. New HRE's are BIG $$$.

If you get the right offsets and sizing (Exactly like this Supra) It'll look great.
I don't think HRE 1pc wheels give off a cheap vibe at all- Quite the opposite.

It's more about how a wheel fits inside the arches, along with tires that makes something look cheap or wrong... Even a cheap set of Varrestoen TE37 knockoffs can look perfect if the owner selects the right sizing/offsets for whatever vehicle it's going on. So yeah, go for it. CCW has "been done already", and does look great... So it all depends on what look you are wanting to go for-- Sporty or luxury.

My vote goes for ccw because I prefer a wheel with lip. Either wheel will look nice in the right size and offset.

I was looking at the flowforms on the hre website and noticed the only 5x114.3 application they had was for the mustang.

Both companies make great wheels, but I would take the CCW's in this case. Those HRE's seem like they would look funny on the SC. The Classics would look better.

Thanks for the feedback folks. A user on an LSX forum was kind enough to create a couple photoshopped pics:

As much as I like the look I'm still leaning towards the CCW's given the body lines of the SC.

Mine is the metallic gold color, not Angora like pictured above. Sorry, haven't learned its correct name yet haha. It does have 97+ front and rear bumpers.

Sandstone Beige Metallic 4K9....Yeah go with the CCWs then you cant go wrong they look good on most cars.
If it was a darker colored SC i would stick with the HREs

The HRE's actually look pretty good on that red SC. A gold SC would look better with CCW's though.

After staring at the pics for quite a while I will be going with CCW. Now I just have to figure out the max width and offset so i can fit 295-305 wide rears without going negative camber, just fender pulling. Let the fun begin!

Thanks for all the input.
