Default Do you insure liability or full on your SC?

These cars are generally valued under $5000.

I want to know what other SC owners are getting liability only or comprehensive
It would be understandable if you have modifications that are insured with additional riders.

But I think for unmodified cars the expense come from maintaining it with OEM parts when possible, the insurance company would never care you put in costly parts to maintain the car.

I saw the other post the OP got $5k and $500 buyback for her car, it seems like she got quite a deal on that settlement, but I am not sure if that is always the case with a different company or different car.

The reason I ask, is because adding comprehensive is IMO a big difference in yearly premium,
(I opt forthe maximum limit which is $1M instead of the state legal $15/$30k etc, but that's another story.)

My SC is 19 years old and if it gets a scratch they'll total it. I have liability only and it's a daily driver. I do however have a $500,000 maximum limit for both collision and medical.

Long story short, I know someone who got into an accident about 10 years ago that settled in a civil case at $80,000, and the insurance was limited to $25,000. This person had to pay $55,000 out of pocket monthly payments for 7 straight years.

I just got quoted a liability only premium was a few dollars less than my older car because the SC has air bags and ABS.

And just curious if I were to add $500 comprehensive deductable and $1000 collision deductable the premium is extra $192 per year. Something to think about.

As I read the other thread getting totalled isn't necessary bad IF the assessment is good and buy back is low, it's wrong not to buy it back! Now I understand what I'm seeing on craigslist now, people trying to get $2000 for a dented running car when they only spent $500 to buy it back.

Are the SCs common theft targets these days?
That's the only problem I see with having liability only..

I got quoted $260 every six months or $47 a month and that includes more coverage, medical payments and uninsured motorist property damage. I got hit by a drunk driver with no insurance in my Civic Hatch last weekend so this is a must for me for now on. Thank god my dad already had it on there but with the SC I think I have to get my own policy since I'm no longer in school.

I'm 23 and liability was only going to be like $35 a month. Full coverage is quoted $74 - $110 depending on deductible.

Depends on if I feel like I want a new car soon or not.
