Painting Caliper's
Does anyone have any advice on painting my calipers. They have the traditional rusty look, and i'm not likein it one bit. How would I go about painting them? Is it O.K. to?, what color would look the best? ect. The car is blk w/ gld pkg Thanks -

Watch your *** with aresol overspray. You know that cloud of vapors that drifts around after you shoot the paint? That's flying paint vapors! If you're not careful you'll find your SC's body with a nice coat of coarse black/silver/red engine paint. You can remove the overspray with claybar and elbow grease of course, but claybarring every last inch of an entire car is a long and tedious process. I notice a lot of people paint the calipers with the brakes and shims still installed. I'd shoot the paint with all of that removed from the caliper. Then put them back in after the paint dries. Make sure you shoot a few coats of paint on your calipers so the color stays rich and deep and won't fade out. I paint the brake drums too because those are pretty ugly looking as well.

If you want to avoid overspray, one old hot rod trick is use a thick coat or carnuba paste wax on the car before painting. Then after the paint drys, you put the car back together, you remove the wax. Now you have killed two birds with one stone.

Thanks guys for all your advice!!!!!! I would paint the calipers after removing the brake pads but im not sure how and it seems it bit complicated. We will see though, thanks again-

To pull the pads, it takes 5 secs. There is a bolt on the top side of the caliper, 14mm. Remove the one, and then swing open the center caliper piece like a door. Release the pads that are held in with just tension.. mark them so that you know where they go back, and you are set.

The logo on the caliper came from (edit) some banned place (edit) I found them through eBay, but now they sell direct. I think it's a real nice touch
If you put the sticker on *just* before the paint hardens, it looks like it was part of the casting.
