Unhappy 1600kg weight

is there any way to lighten up the SC's by about 100kg without gutting interior? I mean 1600kg is quite alot of beef to haul around!

How much does the hood weight?
How much does the rim weight?

You could replace the heavy exhaust system with a lighter one.
Take our your spare tire.
Don't drive with a full tank of gas

I remember hearing the hood weights about 80 lbs
Remember also when reducing weight, people say 1 lbs of rotating mass is like loosing 5lbs of static mass

Default Lightening the load

Dimcorner I saw a site if I find it again I will let you know but they sell the carbon fiber hoods for a Soarer there as well the trunk is healthy with carpet that isn't necc. As for the interior you ever use that dead weight backseat, may be time to do some custom interior work. what kind of rims maybe go with a lighter Aluminum than what is on it if you haven't already? Obviously the stainless steel exhaust weighs in heftily. Aluminized would be lighter just save the old stuff in the garage in case you run into a problem. I haven't had a chance to go over the one sitting here but when I do I will get back with more suggestions, as for the rear seat who needs passengers anyway.. Could always go with a set of front racing seats bolted and ditch all the electrical stuff there.

P.S. I haven't had the chance to look at the exhaust manifold on this one but odds are it is cast iron or something similar, maybe try finding a lighterweight ceramic coated heater that is available for it ? Who knows I know the heatshield is there on this one that may be weight to lose but at a risk . All that wonderful carpeting on the underside of the hood as well . If you want it stripped down slightly could always do some unsafe bumper foam removal.

as far as muffler weight, my pair of stainless steel magnaflows are still lighter than the stock mufflers. its not a huge difference, but id say a few pounds per muffler - those stock *****es are damn heavy.

On the front change the hood to carbon fiber but please paint it your car's color. There is nothing uglier than to have the hood look carbon fiber if it does not match your car. This saves you eighty pounds.

The mufflers can be changed out. I save about 20 pounds on the rear.

You can change the two front seats out for racing seats. That would easily free up probably 100 pounds.

Then replace you spare with a Supra spare. 10 lbs maybe?

If you did the above three then there is your 200 pounds. All the weight taken out is symmetrical in respects to left right. However the front/back symmetry is gone. Even the SC400 which has a heavier engine would still make it uneven. You would benefit most then from relocating the battery to the trunk in the front/center.

You could always take out the AC, put in a Supra spare, remove padding and shielding from the carpets, etc.
