Low Fuel Pressure??
Hey CL
I Have been driving my sc300 for about a week now after i put another engine and tranny in It. On Start up it idles high 1500RPM Than drops to 400Rpm i Took it to mechanic and we read that the brand new 02's were reading a lean mix.
He than put a propane canister into a hole on my intake and the idle evened out.
he said that im having low fuel pressure. What can cause this??
Thanks

My car was running lean lately, it was simply due to a piece of rubber that was broken between the intake assembly and the throttle body, so extra un-metered air was getting through the crack. See if that's the case.
Aftermarket generally means 'poorly engineered' at the very least compared to OEM. That would be the first place I would look. Otherwise, I would actually check the fuel pressure at the rail (much better than just guessing) and possibly replace your fuel filter in case it's never been changed. I doubt its the fuel system or filter itself since usually you will run out of fuel at high RPMs or high load, but changing a cheap fuel filter never hurt anyone.

Lets just call it 30psi. Its something more like 38psi but anything over 20psi and the ECU will idle it like a champ. I think I've dropped my fuel pressure down to low teens before by accident and it idled fine.
