Wheels installed. Thoughts?
We would have preferred to have a much wider wheel in the rear, something with more lip, but for the time being it looks pretty decent. I think we are going to swap tires though. The 225's are a little skinny for those 8.5" wheels and it exposes the lip a hair. The 245's would be a much better fit for the car overall. I did some checking online last night and found that the speedometer deviation from OEM to the 18x8.5's with 245's would only be .2%. In other words, at 60mph he would actually only be traveling 59.9mph. I think we can live with that.
Moreover, the 225/40-18 tires offer a little too much harshness in ride comfort (and danger from curb rash). The 245's should absorb a little more of the road's imperfections as well as offer additional protection to the rims for the "close calls" near the curb. Of course, this gives us some pause on the drop since we want to retain a lot of the ride comfort it has now.
