Default Mattjk's build thread.

Starting a bit late but better than never.

I used to have a SUPER clean 91 supra with a 1jz swap. Sold it for $15k to someone in Canada...

got the itch for another toyota so on a impulse buy, I bought my friend's 89 supra with a 1jz swap. We actually got both our supra's done at the same time back in 2007. Anyhow, I bought his car and just couldn't get back into it, so I sold it after 2 months.

I parted out the car and kept the Volks... and started looking for an SC.

Was looking on the classifieds here and one morning some guy responds to a WTB ad about a 97 SC300 5spd, so I jumped on it!

1 week later It's in my driveway getting detailed. It came with the stock wheels so I slapped the volks on it. Here it is getting a full detail.

After the detail, I started noticing all the little door dings, so I met up with a paintless dent guy I've been using for the past 10 years. Did a fantastic job taking out 13 dings.

Outside like new again!

1.5 weeks of owning the car, I start hearing waterfall noises from behind the dash.

everyday it kept getting worse but other than that, no other signs of a blown head gasket, oil and coolant were clean.

Then one day on my way to a doctor's appt, car overheated on the freeway. BHG!

I didn't have time to do it myself so I got it over to Jose at Kaizen.

He had a clean used 2jzge engine he sold to me cheap, and did a bunch of maintenance to it.

All new gaskets, belts, and seals. Twin turbo head gasket with ARP studs, new oil and water pump, welded an oil return line for turbo, etc. Got it all done and running in less than 1 week!

Engine is all prepped for NA-T now.

Picked up a clean pair of LS400 Calipers, and painted them black.

Ordered new Centric Rotors, Centric ceramic pads, and Centric LS400 Brake Lines.

Got it all installed.

Sanded down the gold badges with scotch brite. Looks like brushed stainless now.

That's it for now.

Ordered some Morimoto 5000K HID bulbs for the headlights and fogs. I have 2 pairs of OEM Hella Ballasts out of a BMW 5-series I will be installing in a few days.

Thanks! Yeah, I was so happy to find it, that the BHG didn't even bother me much.

haha! Yeah, I remember you showed up with a GS, right?

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Jwin, yes, it fits fine. I bought the manifold from Kaizen and he had it test mounted on with a much larger turbo.

There's some install pics in this thread.
