Moderator question for sc section

No insult to the mature SC owners, but I have notice the group becoming more juvenile with the affordibilty of the older SC's. As the value decrease, the Lexus name becomes more attractive and affordiable to the ones who can not afford more. The IS is targeted for the younger generation with more disposable income.

Great, 8 mods, just what we needed...
I'll tell you, there's nothing better than being a working professional in your 30's with a bunch of guys in their late teens and early 20's looking over your shoulder so you don't misbehave...
I'm just surprised that this thread hasn't been moved or closed yet - give it time.

that's probably one of the reasons why man of the older SC owners rarely post anymore. just like verylost said... most of the new guys only care about aesthetics. most also come on board with their mentality of getting good stuff for less also. sorry, had to vent for a bit...
If there are so many moderators, how come we continue to get posts with such useless titles as:
"Quick Question"
"Somebody Help"
"help!" (two of those in the past month)
"Anyone know how..."
It's called the "Subject" field.
If it doesn't have a subject, I ain't lookin'

Everybody knows that SC is a better car than GS
. Because of it, few moderators from GS forum spend more time on the SC forum. I guess it is appropriate for them to moderate while they are here 99% of their time

I think most the problem is that there isnt much left for performance for the SC3/400. Any if anyone talks about turbos or gte swaps member say use the search button. There have been a few group buys that have caused some excitement but haven't worked out. We just need someone to go beyond the limits.
Okay genearch and DevilDog, it is not fair for me to classify or stereotype all mods. I apologize to you as my earlier words really shouldn't reflect upon either of you and probably a couple of others. I have also noticed that there are an increasing number of moderators and these guys are young and tend to sometimes overreact to threads by moving them or closing them down.
For example: if I posted something like. Don't buy this part for the SC400 from ebay, they ripped me off. Followed by a link to ebay, the thread would either be closed, edited, moved or all three. This is because the mods are scared to death ebay posters will take over the forum. I'm sure a search on the word ebay is done several times a day. The reality of the situation is that ebay is the world's largest marketplace of used anything. It's not always about spam, sometimes it is informational. I have found several pictures on ebay and posted them on the SC forum because it has helped other users. Sometimes you need more than just a picture and a link is needed. I have never sold anything on ebay or posted an ebay link, so this is not a personal issue, just one of observation.
I have said this before and I will say it here again because I think it is relevant to this thread. The only real objection I have to the way moderators are acting is that I don't feel they always use good judgment in determining the intent of the post when they take actions. I have never had a problem with genearch and DevilDog, and there is probably a reason for it. I do know that some of the moderator decisions I have objected to were done by younger mods and that is probably why I was quick to misjudge myself and say that all moderators were young and inexperienced. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying that anyone is "bad people." But if my local police department was to double in size overnight with rookie cops, I don't think the best decisions would be made at first. I could just imagine all those speed traps and in the number of tickets that would be given out for minor violations. Hopefully you find this analogy somewhat relevant.
Let's also remember that the moderators are not responsible for the content itself, so let's not start blaming then for dumb questions, etc that are put on the forum. The lack of good content has gone down a bit, but we are still making progress, it's just slower these days as there are fewer people interested in the SC. There are also younger people here as the price of the older cars declines. We will all have to expect some newbie questions as a result. We really can't control the economic realities that will inevitably impact this forum over time. What we can do is pass on our knowledge and hope that the new, younger owners will give back to the forum as we all have.
