Default Part number Help PLEASE :uh:

Sorry to have to make a thread for this...

I have been searching on CL and the internet for hours to find this darn part number.

Sewell couldn't even give me the #.
No exploded diagram that I've found anywhere states what this part is.

Is it maybe just some generic hose cut to length?

This black rubber hose which attaches from the Power Steering Reservoir into the metal power steering lines. Highlighted in YELLOW

Maybe it only comes with the reservoir, or high pressure line?

there are a couple more hoses in that diagram that arent labeled. Take a print out of that you posted to your closest auto parts store or dealer. Im sure they'll have it

That part highlighted is a part of 44402-24150 (Cooler Sub-Assy, Power Steering Oil, No. 1) You cannot just that highlighted part alone from the dealer. It is most likely a generic hose that is removable hence the two clamps located on each end.

I just went through this as mine got damaged - the dealer wanted $140 or something ridiculous for it. I ended up pulling one off my spare. It's just a hose, I don't know how much pressure it is supposed to hold though...

You can always buy power steering hose or turn it into an fitting with lines. I used anplumbing.com

Thanks for the input guys. Still hunting for this damn thing...

Any auto parts store carrys "power steering return hose", which this hose SHOULD be... except for one thing: the stock hose has a plastic hard shell inside of the rubber hose. If you were to cut it in half, it would be a plastic tube wrapped in rubber.

Any / all of the PS return hoses I've seen are just rubber only, not rigid. You could squeeze them closed whereas the stock SC300 hose is as hard as a rock.

Makes me think that is needs to hold more pressure then just PS return hose can handle. Am I wrong?
This hose goes from the PS reseviour to the high pressure metal line to the right of the PS pump.

its just old and brittle i think. If there were only hose clamps holding it on, than any kind of good ps hose will work.

I think Toyota designed that hose with the plastic in the middle not for strength, but to keep it's specific formed shape. That hose is not high pressure, so a regular rubber hose will work.

This line is extremely high pressure and you need to use the proper hose.

No offense or anything, but how high pressure could it be if its held on with hose clamps and is the coming off of the cooler and a return to the reservoir?

Im nearly 100% positive that my PS cooler (which i deleted) is tied together with a piece of regular PS hose as well. If it wasnt dark id go take a pic

Thanks for the posts! I really appreciate it.

This too is what I originally thought since it is coming off the high pressure metal lines; however, I've been told by a few folks that this is just a normal PS return hose.

I'm sure you didn't erroneously post this comment... so can I ask if you're 100% sure?
The hose is held on by two metal clamps and does "return" PS fluid. Is this not normal PS return hose?

The hose is not given a specific part number on Lexus diagrams because like previous posters said, this hose would come attached to the metal high pressure PS lines if you bought them.

Due to this I could see how they could be high pressure.
But I also see the argument for it being a normal PS hose held by clamps.

Thanks! I do think you're correct on the plastic being for shape / form. Because... how would some plastic the thickness of a nickel be able to make a difference in holding pressure in the hose. It's just normal plastic that would easily shatter if you hit it moderately hard.

.

Putting her back together today using "stock" power steering return hose from Advanced Auto.
It fits well and clamps on perfectly.

Will update thread with results.
