Hey guys I'm trying to figure out what this is so I can fix it. I talked to my Supra buddy and he's saying pilot bearing. I just want to get another opinion. It makes this noise at start up and shut down and also when the clutch isnt pressed at idle but while driving I cant hear it at all. Car shifts fine and yes its a W58. Oh I also have a video of this noise in action at idle while im pressing the clutch in and letting it out, i can vaguely hear the noise when the clutch is in but not nearly as loud when its out. Thanx in advanced for your help!
Jack the car up and open up the inspection covers on both sides of the trans, and inspect everything, could be a number of issues.
W58's do not have inspection covers only the R154 does. That sounds like maybe your flywheel or pressure plate may be loose not 100% positive but just a suggestion.
I dont think it would be the pilot bearing. It could be the throw out bearing or maybe the trans is shot altogether. Your going to have to pull the transmission regardless. Good luck and I hope you find a bad throw out bearing in there.
THanx fellas we will be pulling the trans tomorrow night to find out what it is ive been hearing alot of people say loose flywheel or pressure plate im hoping thats all it is
So we got it up on the lift late last night and removed the tranny and it ended up being loose flywheel bolts. Luckily it didnt damage anything since i didnt drive it since i started to hear the noise, again thanx for all you guys' input!

inspection cover on top, and also if you pull the rubber boot off where the fork comes trough you can see pretty good in there.
