Default My first car!

Sup people, just got a car today, it just so happens to also be my first car. I've been looking at these forums for a little while now, and just so happened to find an 92 SC 400 on Craigslist at the same point in time where I start a new job and needed a car asap so it's really just luck. Since Sandy hit all the used cars have been disappearing fast around here, not to mention all the scammers selling flooded vehicles so it's been slim pickings.

Anyway here are a few pics, I paid $2000 after talking the guy down from $2800, I know this car isn't perfect the inside needs a little work, but overall is decent. The engine/tranny are mint which is a huge plus for me. It's got 125K on the engine. The 20" rims are a bit stupid, so I'll probably trade them off on craigslist for a set of 18"s.

Anyway I came to ask a question as a big audio fiend, do you guys think these JL speakers will make good stock replacements? The current ones in the car are definitely blown and sound like complete ***. As a music man I just can't let this go on for long, research has me going for a pair of 4" speakers for the door and 6 1/2" speakers for the rear deck. The sub doesn't even work, I believe it's been disconnected as someone at one point in time had a subwoofer in the trunk(the wiring is still there). Perhaps the stock amp is disconnected as well, I'll need to do some research once the sun comes up I suppose, but it's pretty f'n cold here in NY to be working outside. Either way would you guys recommend these JL speakers? Should I go for something better? I don't want to spend too much on speakers, maybe a $200 combined budget for now. Also there's a link for the deck I plan to pair them with in time.

Nice pick up. Welcome to CL. JL Audio are great replacement speakers. They will be within your budget also. You might also look at Polk Audio 2 way speakers.

Congrats on your first car. You make me feel old, my first car was a 1985 CRX and that was in 1999.

Haha well I'm 26 years old, bit of a late bloomer, spent a lot of time messing my life up, finally got my **** together this year. Most people I know were gifted their first cars at the age of 16, I wasn't so fortunate. Anyway, I think I'm going to do some digging in the trunk tomorrow and check to see if the amp is connected, hopefully that and the sub are disconnected, maybe I can get some new life out of them.

In my opinion those 20s don't look so bad man. They definitely don't seem like Walmart brand. I would think about investing in coilovers and seeing how they look with some stance before selling/trading. Just an idea!
