Clean400 -

You got it, they are a set of '08 - '09 GS 350 Wheels, 17 x 7.5 - 45mm, Port Take-Offs. Bought for winter use on my '93 GS, now the SC 400's. They are a mild upgrade from the OE 16s, but have enough sidewall left to handle the winter pothole and ruts. I'm running 225/50 - 17 B'Stone Blizzak WS 60s. Was fun this morning, had just started to accumulate on the roads, this afternoon should be even more fun

traction control sucks in heavy snow.. haha.. turn it off.. hit the gas to climb hills.. to climb a hill i have to be doing about 120 before it starts to move..

Just got a dump of snow in Vancouver the past 2 days. I just got into work and the city was a complete nightmare on the way in this morning. Cars stuck, left right and center.

I'm on all-seasons and 'snow mode' (but no TRAC). Any slight hill I was pretty much going up sideways and praying I didnt come to a stop. But I did get to work whereas countless others werent moving. Dont mean to gloat, but driving in snow is 90% skill

I took my SC400 out in the snow all day today here in Denver,Co. I have been a bit worried on how it would do.I was amazed it did damn well for RWD on my 18s and my CEL on so I have no TRAC Its not near as good as my Pontiac GP was in the snow (now retired from winter driving) But thats like comparing apples and Oranges LOL! Over all I was happy and I cant lie I had a lot of fun

Nah traction control helps. "hitting the gas" is probably the worst way to get traction from a dead start. You want to slowly tip in the acceleration.

All seasons don't hold a candle to winter tires. But then again your in Vancouver, our winters are much harsher in Montreal. But driving in winter takes some skill in heavy snowfall. It seperates good drivers from bad. The best is to have dedicated summer and dedicated winter tires. I don't think I'd ever buy all season, at least not for the climate I drive in. All seasons are actually illegal in Quebec in winter, after December 15th you must have winter tires on your car.

It's really all in the tires! Stock or at least smallish wheel size is better for winter too. 18" winter tires on an SC won't handle as good as 15" or 16" winter tires on an SC.

I will be buying winter tires for my stock 16s and then summer tires for the new wheels I buy. The challenge is: which wheels to buy?

We're on our 3th snowfall here in Minnesota, I missed the worst snow 2 weeks ago (13" locally) when the SC was having new PS hoses and lines made. I drove my sons 2000 Grand Prix for 3 days in the mess, maybe I'm too used to driving RWD because I never felt comfortable in it!
I've driven the SC last winter (mild) and in through the snow this winter and have no complaints, even with it lowered and on 8" wide all-season tires! I turn off the TRAC system as it seemed to only help when starting from a stoplight.
I used to have a 2006 Jetta GLI in Florida with summer tires and during that one week every February when the temps dipped below 40 the car drove like it was on ice! I have yet to put snow tires on my spare set of wheels but I probably will after the season is over and they are on sale!
