How should I price my 1995 SC300 5-Speed?
I have a 1995 red SC300 5-speed that I plan to sell soon. It has 209,000 miles on it but has been very well maintained and is very strong - best car I've ever owned. Cosmetically, there are a few issues that will need attention, i.e., the seats need recovering, there is a dent in the hood where something blew on it during a storm, the bumpers need painting.
I bought the car in 2004 with 76,000 miles on it. I am the second owner and the CarFax report indicates no accidents. The previous owner left all the maintenance records and window sticker in the car when i bought it. I've used Valvoline MaxLife since I bought it and have had the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Vavoline has a web site where that can be confirmed.
Any suggestions about what the car should bring?
Thanks!

Because it's factory 5 speed you can still get some decent coin if you find the right buyer. However I wouldnt pay 5k for a car with 209k on it that needs cosmetic work, your best bet would to see what sc's are going for in your area on craigslist as I know in some areas they are hard to find

yea I have to agree as well, to me mileage is the first thing I look at and your well over 330 000kms, here in Canada I think your be lucky to get $2500 with the high mileage , damaged seats, body damage and other issues.
We all know these engines last long but we also know that as they age many parts need replacing and personally I would not purchase your car, but im sure others will especially since its a factory 5 speed.

I'd start at $5k assuming your body and interior aren't in horrendous condition and assuming you have kept up on the maintenance. Seat recovering isn't a big deal although it is pricey. Pictures would greatly help us make a determination guesstimate. 5-speeds are still fairly rare and few have low mileage. Edit: from 1992-97 there were only 3,883 of these made originally. Fewer are around now. To put that volume into perspective, last year there were only 3,000 Fiat 500 Abarths allocated for the USA-- 2/3rds the number of all SC300 5-speeds.
If it helps for comparison: my 5-speed has 209k (2nd owner at 189k) but I've gone through a tremendous amount of critical and small maintenance, cosmetic restoration and permanent performance upgrades. Basically anything that was wrong, however minor, I fixed and I have the receipts to prove it. Recovering my TT seats and a new paintjob are basically my last details. I'd be asking quite a bit more than $5k were I going to sell mine but I've seen some very ratty 5-speeds I wouldn't think justify even $5k. A well maintained *stock* 5-speed that has few or no issues I'd expect to go for around $4.5k-$6k. Maybe if it had 400,000 miles on the odometer it should be less. Again, this assumes your car is sorted for the most part.

This is all very helpful. The reason I am selling the car is to buy something my daughter can learn to drive. She's 16 and the manual shift is intimidating to her.
Thanks everyone!

All some very good points to consider...and as some have stated, you should post up some pics of the car when you get the chance? If you do decide to sell the SC, post it up in the Lexus vehicle classifieds...it should go quick depending on the condition it views in. Either way, good luck with your sale.
