another ebay problem
On top of this, right about the time the bidder should have gotten my amp, they put the same amp up for auction (same pic and serial #). They ended the auction early (only got up to about $90 I think- kind of fishy). The reason for putting the amp up in the first place is " they changed their mind on how they wanted to upgrade their audio system". Yeah friggin right.
If I had to guess, they have my amp, and upon learning there was no tracking number, they took advantage of the situation and filed a false claim in order to get their money back.
Once again, the honest guy who fulfills his end of the bargain gets screwed.
Oh, one more thing, I am a +14 rating, they are a 0.
Anyway, moral of the story....a couple idiots ruin a good thing for everyone. Also, watch out for ebayer "chunjai88", lizette tran, or johnston yau from San Fran, CA.
Ahhh.... this has been so frustrating... sorry guys I had to vent:>
i got screwed a couple of times on ebay for the same reason. only after i found out that i had to have a tracking number that i started to charge everyone for the delivery confirmation... regardless if they want it or not.
have you tried calling paypal direct? did you print out the auction page that they were trying to sell the EXACT same amp? if you did, fax it over to paypal...
jeez, i feel your pain man.

You can fight it, but I think you are gonna just have to chalk it up to experience...at least it's only 180 bucks or so, it could have been a lot worse.
This is why paypal sucks. And they charge transaction fees on top of that!
DW- 180 may not be much but thats almost a set of Eibach Prokits for my baby:>

Has anyone found any better place to use than paypal? Esp. a service with better dispute resolution.

180 sucks yeah, but at least it wasn't like 1800...
Lesson learned, just be careful next time there's lots of scammers out there!

What's weird is that Liz Tran emailed me 2 months ago about buying my fiberglass woofer box for her SC300 (we couldn't agree on terms).
Hey DoubleWhoosh I have a question for you, if I as a buyer send you money as a money order, what stops you from not shipping the item? Does ebay have a buyer protection? I trust the guy ... but you have to worry when sending someone you don't know hundreds of dollars.
Man that sucks big time, dam people on ebay... you go out of your way to help them out and in return they f*ck you up the ***. I think anything shipped should be tracked, of a noticable amount.

Well in theory the ebay feedbacks should be an indication of a credible seller to send money to. Ebay supposedly has some protection, but it's all BS for the most part. Of course they could have fake feedbacks, but you can usually get a pretty good idea by going on feedback alone, especially if the person is in the hundreds or even thousands.
That’s is why it’s smart to always send your packages, using some sort of a tracking system or a signature request.
This way it protects you from *******s trying to rip you off. Every time I sell an item I get idiots asking why I am charging so much for shipping, even on small items. And I tell them, “It’s because I am adding a tracking / signature request service for my own protection and yours, if you have a problem with that, then don’t bid on the item.” It’s that simple!
And also I state in my description that a winning bidder with ‘0’ feedback is to be verified and escrow services rendered.
By just sending it USPS does not protect you.
tggoodrich, You may still have a chance to beat this *******. Since you have witnesses at Mailbox Etc. and the fact that it's evident that the item you sold just happened to be resold by the same bidder who won the exact same item from you. It’s all timely documented, but you need to act fast and file a fraudulent claim against him with the Auction site.
Good luck!
