Default Would you trade?

So I've been debating about getting out of the Lexus game recently. The more I think about it the more I realize that the SC400 doesn't do anything good. It's not fast, not a good track car, not VIP, not good mpg, and not practical. IDK why I like them so much....on paper it looks bad, LOL! I really want to do some road racing/time attack track events and I was analyzing my SC400 and it just didn't seem like it could do it without dumping tons of money to be stock Integra fast around a corner.

So I got an offer for a trade for a GC8 RS 5 speed which I'm leaning towards or a S14 240sx kouki. I can't believe how little the value of our cars are worth but you think a straight trade for either one would be worth it and what are the common problems of those other cars that I need to aware of?

Sad to see that I might be getting out of the Lexus game after all this time...

I think it is worth mentioning that the SC400 is dead sexy.

Looks like driving your boring lexus is getting to you. Do it. I made the switch from SC400 to my TTZ and never looked back. Or you can do 2jz-T swap and be done with it.

With the GC8 unless its swapped, because it will feel just as slow as the sc4, with none of the comfort features
Kouki's are cool but so common, well in my area they are.

What are your plans are you road racing, autocross, etc.

Maybe I'm just bored of the auto transmission or maybe it's the whole car. Even if I did a gte swap it'll cost so much and still not be as good of a track car.

I was thinking the GC8 would be even slower than the sc400 but easier to throw around since it was lighter but if it was just as fast I'd be happy with that.

I was looking at doing some road racing on a track. Brainerd International Raceway is the biggest track around here and it's 2.5 miles.

suspension, intake, exhaust, and a 5 speed swap and you will be loving that v8.
Sure its harder to throw a big car around, but when you do you get bigger results.

I own a gc8 and an sc400. The sc400 seems like a race car compared to the subaru. Just change the gears in the sc. it will be like a new car

How about a SC300 with a manual? I've had both, and the manual changes the car's personality

I use to own 2 manual 300's before this 400 and you are correct. IDK maybe I need some seat time before I make up my mind. You guys think the auto transmission will be able to handle the abuse?

you have to remember the gc8 is just a stock sedan, it would be the same as trying to race a camry of something, it doesn't have any of the suspension components of say a wrx or such. Where as the sc was kind of designed to be a sporty coupe.

What year is the Impreza? the 93-95 make for an easy swap canidate due to being OBD-1 and the Ej20G engines can be had for super cheap and if you get the sedan version they come with a 16G and 260HP from the factory.

Here is one of my old swapped GC's

A s14 would be a ton of fun and mods are cheap and plentiful. But to be honest, you really don't need much to make your SC handle well, coilovers, swaybars, LSD, wheels/tires and a set of bushings

Thanks,
Rick

Nice GC8. This one I'm looking at is a 2 door 2.5 RS with coilovers, wheels, headers, and full exhaust.

I'd take a SC400 over an S14 any day for a daily driver. Hell for anything for that matter but that's just me. If you want an s14 / s13 just get a ratty looking one for cheap with an sr20 swap and have fun with it at the track. That way you can keep your luxury SC for daily driving and have a toy on the side.
