New to Lexus, just bought SC300
So far I like it! Not sure what to do first though.. I'm going to go either 1jz or 2jz not positive so I would like input. I'm going to want around 400 whp, will be installing LSD. Also, while the car is down I'm going to go auto to manual. The 400 whp will be used as a daily driver, casual drag racing on weekends at bristol, and the occasional drift fit. What should I do?

The problem I'm having is the automatic trans. I feel it'd be easier to just swap motors and trans. The auto trans won't shift passed 3rd.

If you are going to Bristol you must be close to me.. Either swap is perfect for your power goals. Source out the pedals, and the driveshaft, everything else is pretty much found anywhere, especially if you go with the W58. The W58 can hold around 400, if anything above for too long, you will replace it eventually.

Actually I live about 10 minutes away in cookes valley. I have no idea anything about Toyota I've always dealt with Nissan. Also it has a problem with cold start. To put it simply, it doesn't.

I'm ready and willing. It has a new battery and altenator, it just won't fire up. I drove it probably a hundred miles today, went back out to fire it up to check it, and nothing. It cranks good and strong, just won't fire.

Go 1jz, cleans up the engine bay, its an easy swap you can do by yourself with little/no modifications only extend harness and few misc. parts and with bolt ons you shouldn't be to for from your 400hp mark.

Shane, first off welcome to the SC family...with your power goals, that will be easy with either swap as tabaka and the other members previously stated. I'm curious, how many miles are on your current SC? The 2jz block is no punk, and it can endure the hands of time! I would play around with a reliable NA-T for the time being, atleast until you become more familiar with the platform. Matter fact, I think there's a R154 swap for sale in the classifieds. May be something you're interested in? If 1992Lexus is close, may be he can help you out, etc. Either way, good luck...enjoy your stay and learn a lot. In daylight hours, snap some pics and post them up!

I for sure will!! it has a lot of random issues I picked it up for 1700 off Craigslist so I figured id nip it in the bud and do a full engine transmission and interior swap. (interior is also trashed)
