My 97 SC just recently started to act weird a little while ago on take offs. When I put the pedal to the floor the car seems to lag quite a bit and seems like it's taking off as if there blotches of oil on the ground. I have no idea what it could be. It's na and has a Supra auto LSD. This also happens on the freeway when I'm going 40 and try to get up to 70. It's really frustrating. All input is appreciated.

 

Clogged air filter? Needs a tune up?

 

When was the last time you did a tune up? Everything that i can think of as a probably cause (other than the fuel pump/fuel pump ecu) would be covered by that.

 

Mine is doin the same thing, I know its not a tuneup only thing I didn't change is the wires.. so like harbinger said I'm guessing fuel, change the filter first its cheep..

 

Could be a simple fix, like MAF is dirty, or throttle is loose.

 

hopefully your tune-up included a new distributor Cap and Rotor. are you getting and check engine codes?

 

Mine isn't throwing a code, but I used a friends Ecu about an hour ago and it ran prfect.. you may want to try the Ecu..
