Default Driftmotion intake manifold

I know a lot of people have been looking for other options to replace there stock intake manifold. So I figured I would drop some pics of my DM intake manifold so you all can see what a decent intake you can end up with a Alittle hard work. I will apologize in advance for not having before pics but if you can imagine the worlds worst welds and poorly designed velocity stacks it was not a pretty sight.

I don't understand why they would ever even consider making these without ports for injectors. Is there ANYBODY out there using these with a carb or TBI??? Seriously, it doesn't make any sense to me.

It's actually not as bad inside as I thought it would be. It's not as pretty as I would like it but otherwise it actually looks good! If you can cut the manifold in half, press some velocity stacks on each runner (or just taper them if there is enough metal), and do a little dremel this should turn out quite well. Just make sure you check the mounting flange for warping. I've got $20 saying it's warped.

^^^^^^^^^ You are absolutely right , it doesn't make any sense lol.

Op I don't know what kind of power you are making , or why are you swapping you intake manifold but this manifold doens't flow better than you stock one and it will make your car laggier. People made 700-800 hp on stock 1JZGTE intake manifold.
The plenum looks great ! i just don't like the lower runner.

This is designed to bolt the the stock lower runner so no need for injector ports. Also it has also been proven in this design the velocity stacks don't make for better flow. The pic is fresh off the work bench so there is a bit of dust but I can promise you they don't look that inside when u purchase them; bad enough to make you cry if you see it fresh off the shelf. all the welds have been redone, the runners have been aligned properly, the edges of the cylinders have been rounded for better flow, each runner was measured and corrected for equal volume and has a cross hatch pattern inside the plenum to catch the slower moving air.

I know people have made plenty of hp off the stock plenum this was done more so see if I can spend less than 400 with my free labor and come out with a part equal to those that cost 1200+. I do expect more lag my 74 was spooling up around 4300rpm on the stock plenum and cams. so once i get this motor back up I would like to see the difference in spool time with the install of 272 cams, my modified dm plenum and accufab 90mm tb.

Ok kool !!

what do you mean by spool ? full boost? and how many psi? I have never see a 1jz with 74mm hitting boost at 4300.
The 272 will not make spool any faster .

Anyway gl with the project.

it could if u wanted to add the injector holes but its easier to attach to the lower runner. in the mk3 it will fit no mod but do to the size of the brake booster alot of sc owners just have to cut a small piece out in the rear and make it flat instead of rounded. when i say spool i mean leaving vac and making positive psi's. im not expecting it to spool faster but i would like for it to stay within the 4300-4500 range. if the car was at full boost by 4300 with a 74 i might just have a v8.

side note: i have a 1.5jz not a 1jz sorry for the confusion

so how do you go about checking/fixing the mounting flange for warping??

and this manifold would be good if you relocated your battery to the back and can run a is300 rad fan.

Ive been looking into these recently, good to see that minimal machine work can correct the minor issues with this mani.

Why would you need to change fans?

you can just lap until the surface is even but if the warping too bad you will have to replace the flange
