Default Dashboard Dummie light on..

I have a little issue, The light on the cluster for the rear lights is on and I cannot seem to find a burnt bulb that would cause this to stay on. Literally spent 3 hours yesterday testing and pulling every singel light I could find.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? places to look...etc etc?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

make sure you check the turn signals, reverse lights, make sure both filaments are working on all the brake lights I.E. all the dim lights when you turn the headlights on as well as the brighter ones when you actually step on the brakes. and dont forget to check the bulbs in the rear glass that are in the subwoofer cover (if your car has them)

if you have a rear spoiler check the led strip thats inlayed into the spoiler, im not 100% sure this one trips the dummy light though, in fact im pretty sure it doesnt

if you still cant find anything you might want to take out the taillight malfuction ecu and see if you can find any cold solder joints

If the dash light doesn't come on until you hit the brakes, it's a filament that's on only when the brakes are applied. Get a helper or use something to hold the brake pedal down while you check.

I have the same issue, If you figure it out let me know. I was reading over receipts from the lexus dealer from the previous owner and I saw a complaint about the light 80k ago, dealer brushed it off...

the light can also be caused by poor grounding issues or corrosion so get some fine sand paper and some electrical contact grease and put a dab in each socket.......

That was already my plan, was considering that to be a possible issue as well. Luckily we have all the neccesary stuff needed here at the shop!! we shall see the end result!

So yesterday I litterally pulled, replaced all bulbs and put contact oil on every socket.... Light is still on.. FML... Starting to think the bulb may have to come out of the cluster!! Something about that bright light on, just cant stand to look at it!!!

This is really bugging me cause I really like to have my car 100% correct..

Anyone else have any other ideas?? Or know if I were to put a scan tool on it, Would it identify the exact location??

by anychance do any of you have led lic plate bulbs if so theres your reason. i have the same issue thats all it is.. or if you have replaced your head lights with hid's or the drl's. i havent really looked into the systems but im almost positive that the lic plate bulbs and the drl's run off the channel not the same circut. so when i acually get a chance i gotta do a lil more research but im almost positive that its 1 of those..

I dont have LED bulbs yet... But I do have HIDs. The light was never on after the install of the HIDs.. But thats a good place to start tracing... I may just pull the HIDs out and put stock bulb in to see if that will help.. At least I can eliminate 1 or 2 things...

none of the lights on the front of the car trigger the dummy light.

have you pulled out the taillight malfuntion ecu and looked at the circuit board for any damaged solder joints?

yes, it is in the trunk on the drivers side. you have to pull off the side cover and it's behind the "pillar" of sheet metal below the trunk lid hinge. it should be a small yellow box, unless they changed the color of the box for your particular year

it's a very common problem in the supra, so it's a good place to check for malfunctions

here's the write up on the supra
