Default California sc400?

How can I tell if my 1992 sc400 is a California one? My car does have dual cats going into what looks like a third cat.

I need an ECU, but I'm not sure if it needs a CA one.

Is there something on the VIN or somewhere I can check on the car.

I searched, but couldn't find anything definitive other than the three catalytic converters.

Thanks again.

There is a sticker under the hood that talks about the year, shows a vacuum diagram and will say something like... this vehicle certified for federal and california... if it says .... and california... its a cali car... if not, then its normal.

big white sticker.

It if says conforms to CALIFORNIA REGULATIONS it's CA. If it says U.S./FEDERAL REGULATIONS, its Federal.

Default Found Sticker

Found a sticker affixed to the underside of the hood, just to the driver's side of the hood latch.

It doesn't have a diagram, it does say EGR engine family, then catalyst USA and Canada. I think it did say federal, and definitely did not say California............

Am I screwed when I move to California in a couple months? Will this car automatically fail smog in California? It has no other issues, has no check engine light, passes Nevada smog clean, and has no modifications done that would make it fail.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Looks like I need an ECU from a federal 92 sc400, any leads?

Well, like i said... I need to see that sticker to identify if it complies with CA emission standards. Let say it doesn't, your car would consider as a Grey Market vehicle. You would need to take it to the Referee for them to approve your vehicle.

Its not a california car, but it also doesnt matter as far as I know. You just have to get a emissions when you need it and you should be fine.

Not to sound unappreciative, but 49 state legal usually means legal in every state EXCEPT California. I'm from Pasadena, and built a few cars growing up there. I don't know anyone who doesn't worry about smog unless their car is pre-1975.

Where are you getting your info from?

Sorry if i sound snarky, I am an amateur, but based solely on your last comment, it just sounds like you might not know what your talking about.

Again your help is appreciated, I would be lost without all the insights people have shared in these forums

It says conforms to U.S. EPA regulations. US is not part of CA?

Trust me, if ur car is a grey market vehicle, the smog tech wont even smog it and will refer you to the Referee.

Why dont you just take it to a smog station and you can verify if its legit or not since u need it smogged anyways. GL
