I don't know about you guys but installing a cathode tube sounds like a lot of work. and most people aren't willing to go to such extremes to make their cluster brighter.

I don't have any links to provide, mine came with CCFL from the factory. There is a bunch of companies that well these tubes as kits for people who want to do angel eyes on headlights. I assume same concept can work for cluster

Yea that's the only reason I haven't went the ccfl route. There just so danger bright lol... and there's not really an economical way to dim them that I have found. I'm going to do the smd's. I really thing with some sanding on the ends it will help diffuse the light. I'm hoping so at least lol

 

Why hasn't anyone tried LED strips off ebay? If you can get a low wattage, and if the LEDs are close enough to each other, there will be no hot spots!

 

I feel like if you wrap the CCFL in some tint or some type of darker transparent film, it will make them much less bright.

That is a lot of DIY to put those in your cluster. I'd like to see someone do that though.

 

Awesome idea. If I'm off work this week I'll be tackling this and doing 4 separate rings fit to each gauge.. will post a DIY for sure

 

Doomlight, are those the warm white or cool white bulbs you have installed?

 

and you could cut some steps cause the ring wont be visable its gonna be in the cluster.. the cuts you could make on the front and the back and not use reflective tape just so it spreads the light everywhere! i wanna do this but i dont wanna take the needles off the face.. :/ and the tach needle is dead..
