Default Gas Leak

Hey guys,

I read over this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...l?ref=esp-link which is VERY similar to my issue.

Gas smell in cabin
- No gas smell under hood
- No gas smell under car
- Gas smell predominantly in trunk

I don't think it's the overflow tube... can it be? I got some pictures and it looks like the gas is just POURING into the middle of my trunk. It sinks through the spare tire molding and drips onto my garage floor.

I can only smell the fumes if I fill my tank all the way (I've been riding on half a tank for a while now). Regardless half or full tank, it still leaks onto my garage floor. What do you think?

I'm having trouble just trying to diagnose where the leak is coming from because it seems like it's just leaking when I'm driving. Nothing is wet, I'm guessing b/c it's gas. How should I go about trying to find the source of the leak?

Have you had any issues with an over-pressurized tank before this happened? Other people have had enough pressure build up that the tank failed.

There's really no other way for gas to get into the trunk area except for a hole in the tank or a failed seam. The fuel pump's hoses connect under the car, as does the evap canister line. The fuel filler tube is visible so you could see if it was the problem.

best way to find the leak is have a shop perform a smoke test, very effective method.
