Default New task for HID junkies

Okay someone find out if the new GX470 HID bulbs will work well with our SC400s. For some reason I am thinking they may be an easy install.

what do you mean bulb?? just the bulb. if just the bulb the anser is NO. if you mean the entire projector yes it would. anything will is possible. i've seen it done. just take the entire projector assembly out. and cut out your stock one. and glue using special glue and glue the new projector onto your adjustment metal piece inside the housing.

DAMN good idea Hermosa! I'm going to put in a "pre-order" for a pair of the lights...hehehe...hopefully, everything will work out...

OR MAYBE I should just mold in the GX headlights into my SC!!!

Ok, I'm going to go hit myself with pipe wrench now...

Skulinex: We're a bunch of sick bastards, aren't we?

Hey, I suppose we could have done with a set of SC430 or LX470 headlights too...they all have projectors...hmmm...why were we some damn caught up on doing BMW projector headlights instead?!

the reason why i use bmw is because its bigger and fills up our stock projector better

Yes, yes it's all possible, but at what price beauty? SC430 projectors and GX470 projectors have VERY low gray market availability. Think about it, one model was sold in 2002, and one is *going to be* sold in 2003. So you'll be hard-pressed tracking either of them down short of splurging at a dealership parts counter. Besides, they don't even stock them at the dealerships, I've asked. They are special ordered items and cost something obscene like $1200 each. BMW and Audi projectors are a dime a dozen just because they were available as far back as 1998 and the 3-series is like locust around here, even at salvage yards.

Well, I don't see a lot of SC430's at night, or during the day for that matter, but I don't believe the Lexus projectors give as much color flicker as BMW, or especially Audi projectors. The color flicker is one of the main reasons people go for the retrofits (most aren't genuinely concerned with maintaining a perfect DOT-spec beam pattern).
BTW, the E39 5 series has only used projectors since it's 2001 refreshening. E46 3 series has used smaller projectors on HID models only, since the 1999 redesign. I'm not as familiar with the Audi.
