Default Question for those who have installed prothane rear bushing kit

For those that have installed the prothane rear bushing kit for the SC how did you removed the rear upper control arm bushing with the metal sleeve? i have tried just about everything including taking them to several shops around town none have been able to remove them, even called lexus and toyota both also said no. I have burned one of the bushings out thinking the sleeve would be reused and that is clearly not the case, at this point im about to whip out the grinder and attempt to cut them out if i have a small enough wheel however i would like to refrain from doing so. Maybe does anyone have a factory service manual that could check to see if it calls for a SST ?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

You're supposed to press it out. Do yourself a favor, buy a press from Harbor Freight, do it yourself at home then return the press after you're done.. Finding the perfect size that would fit the metal sleeve would be hard but not impossible.

could you maybe link me to the type of press from harbor freight? the issue i'm having with other presses or pullers i have tried is there is no lip on the control arm to grab to the sleeve folds over the outside and takes up the majority of the surface to grab to

thanks

Edit: if your talking about a typical shop press please keep in mind the sleeves can only be pressed out one way which is from the inside out and since the bushings are parallel this prohibits use of typical shop press which is why the first couple of places i took them to could not do them but were able to press out all of the others

The 12 ton press would do. I'm pretty familiar with what you're saying. Like I said it'll be hard to find a perfect fit for the sleeves but it's not impossible. I forgot which size I used, but I used one of my socket wrenches to press it out. I even remember it getting stuck because it was a perfect fit so I had to press it back out once the bushing was out.

Use an air chisel to fold the lip back up, so that it can clear the inner diameter of the arm. Then use a press to remove the sleeve from the arm.

I burned the bushing out then used a sawzall to cut the shell in 2 places and then used a screw driver to bend the shell out. just gotta use a sharp blade and go slow as to not saw the arm.
