Nothings wrong with my OEM seats (and I mean nothing; not a single tear), it's just that they're heavy, and they look too luxurious, and square, whereas the the Supra/Rx7 seats look sporty, and better suited to match the curves of the SC; in fact, I think they're the seats the SC "should have" come with, but didn't.
Lastly, weight reduction...
Lets get it done and post your findings along the way. That way I can justify making this thread a sticky!

Anything to help the SC weight will help anywhere possible...

You should be able to find RX7 seats on the RX7 Club forums.
Everyone with a FD upgrades to the OEM recaro seats eventually.

I sold my set last year for just under $500. They were mint btw.
I would look for the cloth ones as the suede and leather get beat up fairly often.

LOVE RX7 seats. I've had them in 2 other vehicles, but not the SC. They are very comfortable & very supportive & they will sit lower than your stock seats - and yes they weight SIGNIFICANTLY less. One arm to pick up as opposed to the 2 + bend your legs/keep your back straight so you don't get a hernia stock SC seats. You should note that if you are one of our... larger members, then they may not be for you. I'm 6'2' 230 & I fit snug as a bug - which is how I think a sport seat should fit. However my buddy who is 6'1" 280 technically fit in the seat, but was happy to be out of them. Both times that I used them I left the existing rails in place and fabbed a plate that was secured through the floor & welded to the floor for the rear of the rails to be welded to & them heated & massaged the front of the rails to fit the floor rail mount & had them welded in place.
