I just purhase a 99 Eclipse spoiler LED light to try and fix my busted 99 SC spoiler light. The LED's don't seem to be as long, but i've heard that this can be used to fix.

Does anyone have any step by step how to's on how to go about fixing this.

Thanks.

When I got my SC, mine was junk as well. I took the assembly apart bought a LED strip on ebay and put them in the old ones place. Still work to this day and They've been in there for almost 2 years. Heres a couple pics I snapped while doing that Idk if they will be of any help though

I just kinda took a razor blade and cut around the edges to crack the glue and carefully pried it open. Cleaned off all the old glue.

The cheapest place i found online for an OEM replacement was @ Sewell for $230. Has someone found a cheaper OEM place?

What are the dimensions? I have an acquaintance who manufactures LEDs and LED strips for the off-road market. He may be interested if he has a line he could adapt.

The strip is 16" in length. Bought a set of 2 on ebay for like 15 bucks I think. Works great. Better than factory IMO because its waterproof so it wont corrode like the OEM did. Thats what happened to my OEM one. Only takes one bulb to corrode to make all of them shut off.

Can't beat that for $30! I think the OEM comparable is over $200.

Make sure that they really aren't working. I thought mine was dead until I read the the OEM wiring may have come apart by the trunk hinge. The previous owner even damaged the spoiler in effort to replace it. It was two wires that were severed. I proceeded to extend them and voila, working LED brake light.

Check if they work... Just do a check. Run the lights straight off the battery to see if they work. I ran speaker wire instead of gauged wire from trunk to 3rd brake light... Eliminates trunk hinge being a problem.
